AusGuard ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application ("AusGuard").
Location Data: With your permission, we collect your device's GPS location to provide localised weather, air quality, fire incident, UV index, and emergency alerts. Coordinates are sent to our backend and relevant data providers to retrieve local information. If you explicitly start location sharing, the shared coordinates and route are temporarily stored so recipients with the viewing link can see them. Stopping a share requests removal; regional caches may take time to reflect revocation.
Device Token: If you opt into push notifications, we store an anonymous device token to deliver severe weather, fire, and flood alerts. The token is used with your selected alert area and notification preferences to deliver relevant alerts.
Usage Data: We record device identifiers, platform and app version, language, request activity and network information, including IP addresses, to operate and protect the service. These records are not described as anonymous because identifiers may link requests.
Accounts and social content: When you sign in with Apple, we store your Apple account identifier, the name and email Apple provides, and profile fields you choose to supply. Published meetups and comments are visible to other users. Reports and block lists are used for moderation.
AI features: Prompts and the weather, location or profile context needed for your request may be processed by configured AI providers, including Cloudflare and other AI inference services. Do not include sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request.
All data transmitted to our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. Weather and alert data is cached temporarily to ensure service reliability. We do not sell your personal data. Infrastructure, weather and AI providers process information necessary to provide their services; recipients of a location-sharing link can view the information you choose to share.
AusGuard fetches data from the following Australian government sources:
You can withdraw location permissions or disable push notifications at any time via your device settings. You can delete your account from the Profile screen after verifying your identity with Apple. This removes your account, hosted meetups, comments and account sessions. Deleting the account does not cancel App Store subscriptions; manage those in Apple Settings. For device-related records or other data requests, contact us via the support page.
Retention: Account records remain until account deletion. Sessions expire and are cleaned up; location-sharing records use expiry periods and can be stopped by their owner. Operational records may remain after account deletion because they are maintained separately; contact support for a request relating to those records. No fixed automatic deletion period is currently promised for all operational records.
AusGuard is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
